The four-week progression will enable the CIT to explore all aspects of Wheeler Summer Camp. The program involves daily training topics for basic counselor skills, personal and team building initiatives, group and activity observations, and ending with hands-on experience rotating in an assigned group and activity.

The final part of the training will be evaluated by the direct supervisor (group/activity head counselor) and the CIT Coordinators. The criteria for evaluation will be reviewed during the CIT’s first week of camp. These evaluations will be used to decide who will be considered for a Junior Counselor position. There is no guarantee that once the CIT has successfully completed the program, they will be hired by Wheeler Summer Camp. We employ a limited number of junior counselors (between 16 & 17 years old) to ensure the appropriate number of adult staff to supervise the campers and junior counselors. We may not always have an available position.

To be considered for the CIT program, the aspiring CIT must call the office at (508) 336-8377 to request an application.

Fee and Program Dates:

$200 (July 8, 2024 – August 2, 2024)
